The salaries can be affected by the size or location of the hotel. For instance the general manager of an exclusive hotel in Paris will not receive the same salary as a general manager of a local hotel in a small town.
Minimum Education
All hotel managers are required to have a high school diploma. Although the majority requires at least a bachelor’s degree, some hotels only require the high school diploma and years of experience working in the hotel field. It depends on the size and services that the hotel provides.

Curriculum
The hospitality management curriculum is very similar to a business degree curriculum but focused on hospitality management. Core courses include accounting, marketing, public relations, finance, information systems, strategies and others.
Required Skills
In order succeed as a hotel manager there are several skills that the person has to have. Personal skills include the ability to organize and direct the work of others, teamwork, self-discipline and effectively communicating with guests and staff. On the other hand the person has to have skills in the areas of marketing, supervision, accounting, computer use, and others.
